Effect of ammonium fluoride doping on the ice III to ice IX phase transition

چکیده

Ice III is a hydrogen-disordered phase of ice that stable between about 0.2 and 0.35 GPa. Upon cooling, it transforms to its hydrogen-ordered counterpart IX within the stability region II. Here, effect ammonium fluoride doping on this transition investigated, which followed for first time with in situ neutron diffraction. The c lattice constants are found expand contract, respectively, upon hydrogen ordering, yielding an overall negative volume change. Interestingly, anisotropy persists when fully formed, thermal expansion observed. Analogous isostructural keatite β-spodumenes, can be explained through buildup torsional strain a–b plane as helical “springs” structure heating. reversibility was demonstrated As seen diffraction Raman spectroscopy, induces additional residual disorder suggested chemical way “excitation” configurational ice-rules manifold. Compared VIII, dopant-induced smaller, suggests higher density accessible states close ground state IX. This study highlights importance dopants exploring water’s diagram underpins highly complex solid-state chemistry ice.

Effect of high-pressure-induced ice I-to-ice III phase transitions on inactivation of Listeria innocua in frozen suspension.

The inactivation of Listeria innocua BGA 3532 at subzero temperatures and pressures up to 400 MPa in buffer solution was studied to examine the impact of high-pressure treatments on bacteria in frozen matrices. The state of aggregation of water was taken into account. The inactivation was progressing rapidly during pressure holding under liquid conditions, whereas in the ice phases, extended pr...

The percolation phase transition in sea Ice

Sea ice exhibits a marked transition in its fluid transport properties at a critical brine volume fraction pc of about 5 percent, or temperature Tc of about -5 degreesC for salinity of 5 parts per thousand. For temperatures warmer than Tc, brine carrying heat and nutrients can move through the ice, whereas for colder temperatures the ice is impermeable. This transition plays a key role in the g...

Production of Ice Nucleation Deficient (Ice-) Mutants of the Epiphytic Strains of Erwinia herbicola

To mutate the Ice Nucleation Active (INA) gene in Erwinia herbicola strains, Tn-5 transposon carried by Psup2021 plasmid was used. This plasmid was transferred to the bacterial cells by electroporation. Electrotransformation was carried out for 2.5 ms at 1800 v and 1 mm distance between the electrodes. Polymerase chain reaction was used for determination of presence or loss of INA gene, using a...

The effect of date versus sugar on sensory, physicochemical, and antioxidant properties of ice cream

Background: Despite the popularity of ice cream, its high content of sugar and fat is worrisome. Substituting sugar with natural and useful resources is one possible solution. Dates (Phoenix dactylifera) are rich in carbohydrates and are a good source of energy; they also have a large amount of phenolic compounds and anthocyanin. Aims: The aim of this ...
